Ces petites sph\u00e8res de quelques millim\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre, cultiv\u00e9es en laboratoire, sont constitu\u00e9es des diff\u00e9rents types cellulaires pr\u00e9sents dans le cerveau humain : neurones, astrocytes, cellules gliales\u2026 Mieux, les chercheurs y ont induit, par voie chimique, une tr\u00e8s forte production d\u2019amylo\u00efde A\u03b2-42, un peptide neurotoxique dont la synth\u00e8se excessive est une des composantes majeures de la maladie d\u2019Alzheimer. Pour arriver \u00e0 ce r\u00e9sultat, l\u2019\u00e9quipe s\u2019est bas\u00e9e sur la capacit\u00e9 de cellules souches pluripotentes humaines induites (en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral des cellules adultes de peau ou de sang) \u00e0 s\u2019auto-renouveler et \u00e0 se diff\u00e9rencier en n\u2019importe quelle cellule du corps humain, moyennant une technique dite de reprogrammation. Cette miniaturisation technologique permettra de progresser dans la compr\u00e9hension de la maladie et dans l\u2019identification de marqueurs aidant \u00e0 un diagnostic pr\u00e9coce.
